Gerard A. ‘Jerry’ Neff, 74 of Chicora, PA passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Butler Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with ALS. Born in Butler February 5, 1943 the son of the late Herman and Mary Agnes Angert Neff.
He married Donna Ritzert Neff on September 5, 1970, who died February 17, 2015. He was a 1961 graduate of Butler High School-the first class to graduate from the new high school.
He was a welder at Pullman Standard from 1963 to 1982, he then worked at CLIECO from 1985 until retiring in 2005. He proudly served his country in the USARMY serving in Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966. He worked with oil, gas and water. He enjoyed old cars, country music, woodworking, and being with his family. He was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church, North Oakland, Butler, PA. Chicora VFW and the Chicora American Legion.
Surviving are his daughter, Julie and James Fitzpatrick-Butler. A granddaughter, Makensie Fitzpatrick. Grandson, Conner and Robert Fitzpatrick, His sister, Catherine and Phillip Graham –Greensburg, His brothers: Herman and Bridgett Neff, Benjamin Neff, Patrick and Jean Neff all of Chicora. A brother, Raymond and Jeannie Neff-Butler. Several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his parents, and 5 brothers: James, Joseph, Wendelin, Andrew, and Thomas.
Friends received at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Chicora, PA from 7-9 p.m. Thursday. 2-4 and 7-9 Friday. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Oakland.
Interment will be at Saint Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland with full Military Honors be provided by Chicora VFW and the Chicora and Brady’s Bend American Legions, and the 99th readiness command of Butler.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Community Health Clinic of Butler County, 103 Bonnie Drive, Butler, PA 16002.
