Teresa M. Knechtel Stevick, age 92, of Butler, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 15, at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Pittsburgh on June 1, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Magdalena Walters Holzer.
She was formerly employed as a secretary for the Seraphic Mass Association.
She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She volunteered at the Butler VA Medical Center, Butler Meals on Wheels, and she was past president of BARA.
She is survived by seven children, David Knechtel and his wife, Kathy, of Gibsonia, Paul Knechtel and his wife, Mary Ann, of Butler, Stephen Knechtel and his wife, Mary Kay, of San Antonio, TX, Vince Knechtel and his wife, Daria, of Valencia, Thomas Knechtel, of Saxonburg, Anne Workman and her husband, Sollie, of Hillsboro, WV, and Karl Knechtel and his wife, Vicki, of Butler; 19 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Teresa was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles F. Knechtel; her second husband, Willis Stevick; one granddaughter, Jennifer Loper, and four sisters.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Avenue, Butler, on Thursday from 3-8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 am from Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Avenue, Butler.
Burial will take place in Saint Augustine’s Cemetery, Millvale.
The Bereavement Group of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 3 pm to conduct a Scriptural Wake Service.
