Margaret (Peggy) Ellen Simmer, 82, of Butler, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
She was born April 5, 1935 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Gladys Marie (Kranz) Ion.
Peggy loved going to the casinos, spending time with her family, friends and her cat, Ramsy. She enjoyed talking about being a farm girl who grew up in the town of Isle (now present day Moraine State Park).
Surviving are her two sons, Arthur V. Simmer of New Castle and Mark A. Simmer of Butler; two daughters, Maureen E. (Matthew) Davis and Marcia E. (Scott) Marshall, all of Butler; ten grandchildren, Kadell Mathais Schnur, Melissa Ann (Michael) Davis, Michael Allan Simmer, Matthew Ryan Smith, Autumn Brooke Smith, Hayden Hunter Smith, Bryce Anthony Smith, Nathan Andrew Davis, Cameron Michael Davis and Sienna Nicole Davis; four great grandchildren; four brothers, Richard L. (Bonnie) Ion, Russell Clair (Linda) Ion, Eugene D. Ion and David G. (Mary Kay) Ion; five sisters, Joan A. Lemmon, Mary G. (Charles “Gino”) Judge, Linda I. (Charles) Gaggini, Jean I. (Greg) Rupp and Sally A. Collar; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death along with her mother by her husband, Arthur Simmer, a brother, Edward Paul Ion and a sister Edith Ann Ion.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 1PM to 4PM.
A private burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
