Charles “Chuck” Carl Kay, 78, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 20, 1938 in Harrisville, the son of the late Francis Stephenson and Eva Blanch (Buchanan) Kay.
Chuck was a veteran of the US Marines, US Army, and retired from the US Air Force after 22 years. He subsequently retired from General Electric after 20 years. He attended Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Chuck belonged to the Masonic Lodge #272 Free & Accepted Masons and the Unionville Grange. While living in Florida, he volunteered at the Community Pharmacy as a tech, Hospice, Red Cross, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Federal Emergency Management Agency. Chuck was an avid outdoorsman.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene (Patterson) Kay whom he married June 9, 1959; 4 sons, Russell (Linda) Kay of Orlando, FL, Daniel (Barb) Kay of San Antonio, TX, Gregg (Aleta) Kay of Hebron, OH and Thomas Kay of Baltimore, OH; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Martha McFadden of Sharon and Linda Hoffman of Reynoldsburg, OH; 2 brothers, Bert (Betty) Kay of Grove City and Ralph “Al” (Marie) Kay of New Concord, KY; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Kay of Columbus, OH.
Chuck was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Glenn, Jim, Bill and Eugene.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 1-4 PM. Masonic services will be held Sunday at 3:30 PM at the funeral home.
Services will be held at the Unionville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Dr., Butler, PA, on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10 AM with Pastor Matt Kail officiating.
Interment and full military honors at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA at 2 PM.
