Bow hunters across the state are getting ready for the beginning of archery season this weekend.
Archery deer season begins Saturday, Sept. 30 and the Pennsylvania Game Commission would like to remind hunters that the season will continue through Nov. 11. Late archery deer season runs Dec. 26 through Jan. 13.
Hunters are encouraged to scout areas ahead of time and only take responsible shots of 20 yards or less to ensure quick, clean kills. Illuminated arrows can help with tracking but transmitter tracking arrows are still illegal. Hunters using tree-stands must have written permission from landowners.
