Police have released the identity of the man killed as a result of a crash Tuesday afternoon in Butler Township.
77-year-old Anthony Kovcovsky of Butler was attempting to make a left turn from Evans Road onto Route 8 (North Main Street Extension) when his SUV was struck by a northbound pickup truck.
The accident happened about 3 p.m. near the Bon Aire Shopping Plaza.
Township police say it appears the truck driver- 35-year-old Nikki Burke of Butler- ran a red light before crashing into the man’s SUV but an investigation is still ongoing.
Kovcovsky was cut out of his vehicle and taken to Butler Memorial, where he later died.

A man seriously injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Butler Township has died.
An autopsy is planned for this morning, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office. The man has not yet been identified.
The two-vehicle accident happened just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street Extension and Evans Road, near the Bon Aire shopping plaza.
Investigators said it was a “T-bone” crash between an SUV and a pickup truck. The driver of the SUV was cut out of the vehicle and taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. The driver of the truck was reportedly not injured.
Traffic on North Main Street Extension was down to one lane in each direction for nearly four hours while police investigated.
