Charlene Ann Shuler, 85, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 after a short battle with cancer at Sugar Creek Rest Inc.
She was born October 31, 1932 in Butler, the daughter of the late Charles and Marian Eleanor (Atwell) Midberry.
She graduated from Butler High School and went to business school in Pittsburgh and became a legal secretary. She married Claude Shuler in 1955 and they had 2 daughters. Claude died unexpectedly in 1963 and Charlene returned to work. She earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree while working and raising her girls. She retired from the Office of Children, Youth and Families in 2000. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church PCA and was active there in her younger years. Charlene’s great love was animals and she raised boxers and guinea pigs. She never met a dog she didn’t love and dogs loved her too because of the treats in her purse. She also enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies.
Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Shuler of Butler and Pamela Humphreys of Austin, TX; 2 grandchildren, Kira Freeman and Gavin (Cristina) Shuler; and nephew, Frank (Peggy) Cloud.
Preceding her in death along with her parents are her husband, 2 sisters, Jane Nicholson and Pat Cloud, nephew, Jack Cloud and numerous pets including Chrissy, Bonnie, Bridget, Thor, Rocky, Rajah, Stacy and Cece.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 10AM until the time of the service at 11AM.
Private interment in the Butler County Memorial Park.
