Joseph L. “Joe” Evankovich, 54, of Criswell Rd., Karns City, Perry Twp., Armstrong Co., passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, November 6, 2017 at his home.
Joseph was born in Butler on July 11, 1963. He was the son of the late John W. Sr. and Saundra J. Hillwig Evankovich.
He was a 1981 graduate of Karns City High School. He had been employed as a Cardiac Echo Technician at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Joe was a long time member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Brady’s Bend. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Penguins hockey and Steelers football and also enjoyed hunting.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Saleen R. Evankovich and her fiancé, Robert Simm and two grandchildren, Talyn Z. Evankovich and Nevaeh M. Simm, all of East Brady; two sisters, Candy Grenninger and her husband, Jim, of Karns City and Christine Evankovich-Edwards, M.D., of Belgrade, ME; two brothers, John W. Evankovich Jr. and his wife, Mitzi, of Karns City, Michael R. Evankovich, M.D. and his wife, Krissie, of Waterford; his children’s mother, Michelle Evankovich of East Brady, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Zachary, and a sister, Cindy.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday (today). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Brady’s Bend, with the Rev. John Butler, church pastor, officiating. Interment will take place beside his son, Zachary, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Brady’s Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation at www.wish.org.
