Richard G. “Red” O’Donnell, 88, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 28, 1929 in Butler, the son of the late Lee I. and Marjorie J. (Wuller) O’Donnell.
Red had been a Sgt. in the US Army. He was a self employed cement contractor and in 2002 received the Maronda Homes contractor of the year award. He and his wife own O’Donnell Self Storage. He was a member of the West Sunbury American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing in Canada, and restoring and using his many tractors maintaining his property.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Edna R. (McCandless) O’Donnell; his daughter, Alice O’Donnell of Butler; 2 sisters, Rita Wasiloski of Gibsonia and Susana Lepore of Pittsburgh
; 3 brothers, John (Ann) O’Donnell of Lees Summit, MO, David (Mary) O’Donnell of Marietta, GA, and Mark (Judy) O’Donnell of Gibsonia, ; and 2 sister in laws, Dorothy Bailey of Sacramento, CA and Donna McCandless of Butler and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Philip O’Donnell, and a brother, Eugene O’Donnell.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 18th at 11 AM.
Interment in the Muddy Creek Cemetery.
Military honors by VFW Post 249 and Lyndora American Legion 778 and Butler Legion 117 at funeral home following service.
