During the holiday season, we can often feel like our lives are out of balance, but how do you find a sense of stability this time of year?
The rush of the holidays, the to-do list increases, our stress increases…the holidays can feel overwhelming.
We spoke about this to Senior Pastor Barry J. Keurulainen, from St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, and asked his opinion on the subject.
Pastor Keurulainen said, “I think when we live our life with a sense of rhythm, we’re not just running from one thing to another and there’s some structure and order to it, I think then it can help manage the stress that comes at…at say Christmas.”
We asked how does one find a solution to the ‘out of control’ feeling this time of year? He added that we are so engaged with people and crowds during the season, that it is helpful to find regular, short moments of solitude. He says when we do find those moments, “I believe it gives us strength and joy to be in the crowds again.”
Pastor Kerulainen talked about taking care of your inner self with various disciplines…some of which are considered spiritual disciplines.
Tomorrow, we’ll pick up this story again by looking at what’s called the outward disciplines.
