The Butler Health System’s annual Caring Angel fundraiser to benefit local children and families is once again underway.
This marks the 25th year for the program and the 20th year for the popular basket auction. Butler Health System employees donate items by department, which are compiled into elaborate baskets to be raffled off each December.
This year’s auction runs through next Thursday, Dec. 14. Tickets are available inside the tower entrance of Butler Memorial Hospital. The drawing will be held on Friday, Dec. 15.
The Caring Angel program was started more than two decades ago as a way to support children’s services provided by Butler Memorial. The event now raises nearly $100,000 each year to provide emergency room care to children whose parents or guardians do not have insurance or the resources to pay, and to support the programs of the Butler Health System’s Family Services.
The WBUT morning show went on the road on Thursday and broadcast from Butler Memorial Hospital.
