Rose M. Galante Dorcy, age 94, of Butler, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017, at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born in Butler on February 5, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Michelina DeFoggi Galante.
Rose worked for 30 years as a baker and cook at Butler Catholic School, Saint Paul Building.
She was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church and Saint Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Maureen “Missy” Mulneix, of Butler; two sons, David Dorcy and his wife, Carol, of Butler, and Michael Dorcy, of Butler; one brother, Virgil “Vic” Galante and his wife, Dorothy, of Butler; two sisters, Marie Klutinoty, of Boca Raton, FL, and Louise Leyland and her husband, Harry, of Butler; one sister-in-law, Avelin Galante, of Butler; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Mulneix, Dante Dorcy, Amara Dorcy and Nicholas Dorcy; one great-grandson, Aiden Nathaniel Dorcy; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Roger J. “Dutch” Dorcy, whom she married May 8, 1954; two sons, Roger J. Dorcy, IV and Terrance P. “Terry” Dorcy; one brother, Richard “Dick” Galante; and one sister, Frances Creese.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Avenue, Butler, on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. from Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street, Butler.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
Saint Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at the church on Thursday at 9:35 a.m. to recite the rosary.
