Stephen G. Yovanovich, 82, of Butler passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born September 1, 1935 in Butler, he was a son to the late Steve Nicholas and Mary Senko Yovanovich.
He was a graduate of Butler High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Slippery Rock University, graduating in 1961. He continued on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C., where he earned his Masters degree in Public Health. He graduated in 1964.
He was best remembered as President and CEO of the Visiting Nurses Association of Butler County (Now called VNA of Western Pennsylvania) until 1985.
He then was employed by Family Home Health Services until he purchased Community Nursing Services, which served the Pittsburgh and Butler areas. He later sold the company to ABC Home Services and became a Regional Director.
He retired in 1996 following 62 years working in the Health Care Services field.
He was a member of St. John the Baptiste Byzantine Catholic church in Lyndora.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was also in the Air Force Reserves.
Surviving are two daughters: Vicki Schweinsberg of Butler and Debbie (Dave) Darney of Chicora.
2 granddaughters: Stephanie (David) Vassal of VA and Heather (Matthew) Maxwell of Butler.
1 great-grandson, Liam Vassal.
A brother, retired Lt. Col., U.S.A.F., Raymond Yovanovich of Meridian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. Yovanovich who passed away January 22, 2016. They were married January 26, 1963. A sister, Vi Yovanovich, a nephew, Steve R. Yovanovich and a sister-in-law, Norma A. Yovanovich.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA from 6-8 pm Thursday. A Parastas Service will take place Friday at 11:00 am from the Funeral Home, Rev. Will Rupp to officiate. Entombment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
