Conrad J. Geibel, Sr., 79, of Butler, died Tuesday evening, December 26, 2017, at the V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice.
Born September 4, 1938 in Butler, he was a son of the late Paul J. Geibel and Alberta Neigh Geibel.
Conrad was a retired Postmaster then worked worked part time for the Butler Area School District. He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed building houses, farming and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving is his wife, Thelda Fend Geibel, whom he married June 6, 1959.
3 daughters: Brenda (Phillip) Shaffer of Karns City, Darlene (Paul) Stewart of Butler and Jennifer Geibel of Pittsburgh.
3 sons: Conrad “Jake” (Kristine) Geibel, Jr. of Virginia, Steven (Margie) Geibel of Fenelton and Randall (Tammy) Geibel of Plum.
18 grandchildren: Tiffany (Brian) Yoder, Travis Shaffer, Taylor (Anthony Miller) Shaffer, Trevor Shaffer, Conrad (Elizabeth) Geibel III, Hollyn (Brian Krystek) Geibel, Katelyn Geibel, Stephanie (Greg) Zavacky, Jessica (Jason) Carr, Crystal (Nick) Osche, Dustin (Jesse) Geibel, Dalton (Micki McDonald) Geibel, Dillin Geibel, Nicole Geibel, R.J. Geibel, Aiden Quirk, Thomas Quirk and Mikey Quirk.
9 great grandchildren.
3 sisters: Lois (Ralph) Morrison, Gladys Steighner and Mary Lee (Leo) Rosenbauer, all of Butler.
A sister-in-law, Helen Geibel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10:00 a.m., at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville. Interment will follow in St. John’s Parish Cemetery.
