As 2017 winds down and analysts pour over the new tax law, students at Butler County Community College are volunteering time in order to learn how to help local people prepare tax returns.
17 accounting and business administration students recently trained and took a four hour exam in order to be able to participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
The VITA program offers free tax preparation for people with yearly income less than $50,000. In Butler, the VITA program is based out of the Center for Community Resources.
An additional session of training for BC3 students is planned for January 5th and 6th.
