Water rescue crews went house-to-house in Renfrew Friday morning checking to make sure residents were OK due to widespread flooding.
“These people can teach us a few things about being in flooded situations,” Amy Marree from Butler County Emergency Services said Friday morning. “No one is entrapped in their homes. Everyone is out safely.”
Around daybreak on Friday, it was clear that Main Street in Renfrew (Penn Township) was flooded. Renfrew sits in a low-lying area next to the Connoquenessing Creek.
Several other locations in Butler County were also flooded. Several roads are closed. And, according to Marree, we’re not out of the woods yet.
“Places that are flooded now are still rising and we’re not sure how much more they’ll rise,” she said. “Other areas that have not gotten it yet, that are downstream, will be getting it. If you don’t need to go out, there’s no reason to go out.”
