High School Sports:
–After their first two meets of the season were cancelled due to weather, the Butler high boy’s and girl’s Indoor Track & Field teams competed in the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet at Edinboro Saturday.
The Butler boy’s distance medley relay team set a new school record with a time of 10:57. They were led by Noah Beveridge, Brett Brady, Doug Kostelansky and Tim Porter. They also had eight boys medal.
Two girl’s relay teams took first place. The 4×800 meter relay team of Erin LeMay, Maggie Welty, Mariah Geibel and Liz Simms took their event. Also winning were the 4×400 meter relay team of Maddie Tonini, Gabrielle Boden, Chesna Tomko and Liz Simms. Butler’s Jena Reinheimer finished second in the shot put with a throw of 40-feet, bettering the state championship qualifying standard. Liz Simms also took second in the 800-meter run. Seven other girls and three relay teams medaled.
–The Butler 7th grade gold-jersey basketball team defeated Apollo-Ridge 42-25. Tyler Wiles led Butler with 10 points and four steals. James Desmond added nine points and five assists. Xander Downing had eight points.
