VA Butler Healthcare’s new chief executive has been on the job for only a couple weeks. However, she says Butler has made a big impression on her.
“I love it. I love everybody who I have met. I can see that people are doing great things. They’re doing good work with veterans,” Acting Director Patricia O’Kane said during a town-hall meeting in Butler County late last week.
O’Kane comes to Butler from Philadelphia, where she had been the VA Medical Center Associate Director for Clinical Operations. So far she has been meeting with employees and local veterans, as well as familiarizing herself with the facilities here including the new Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center in Center Township, Butler County.
During the town-hall, O’Kane commented about being impressed with the high standard of care she sees being offered to veterans in Butler.
“I think that you need to celebrate your successes and you always need to look for ways to improve, even if you are successful” she said. “So, that’s what I am hoping that we do and you all do while I am here and after I am gone.”
Previous VA Butler Healthcare Director David Cord stepped down voluntarily from his position earlier this month and was transferred to the VA’s Procurement and Logistics Office in Pittsburgh. No further details have been released regarding his decision to step down.
