The next head coach of the Butler Golden Tornado varsity football team will be a familiar face.
Eric Christy has been hired to take the reins of a program that finished 3-6 overall last year as well as 1-5 in the conference.
The Butler graduate is already a social studies teacher in the district and was the offensive coordinator on last year’s team as well as interim head coach. Christy will be paid just over $7,000 while Butler’s former coach made just over $9,000.
According to Superintendent Dr. Brian White, the pool of interested candidates was not huge since there was no day job attached to the position. White emphasized that Christy’s excitement and passion for the program will be important as he coaches as well as recruits students to play for the team.
