An event this weekend at Butler County Community College will give teenage girls the chance to have fun with science, technology, engineering and math.
The inaugural Girls One Day STEM Challenge will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Business and Health Professions building of the main campus in Butler Township.
Participating girls in grades 7 to 9 will be able to build and program the latest LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots. Lunch will be provided and commemorative t-shirts will be available. This program is made possible with a $20,000 grant from Kawneer Cranberry Arconic Building and Construction Systems in Cranberry Township to BC3’s Kids on Campus Program.
This is a free event but seating is limited with reservations on a first-come, first-served basis. BC3 is also hosting a 12 session event with a similar theme beginning Feb. 7.
