High School Sports:
The Butler Track & Field teams had three first place finishes Friday night at the second Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet at Edinboro University.
–Butler’s Noah Beveridge won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:44.75 – which was the second fastest time in the state and qualifies him for the PA Indoor State Championships.
–The Boys and Girls 4×400 relay teams took first places. The boys team of Cade Gratzmiller, Rob Hays, Ryan Marcella and Jake Wolfrum took first thanks to Wolfrum’s come-from-behind effort. The Girls team consisted of Gabrielle Boden, Chesna Tomko, Anna Baxter and Maddie Tonini.
–The Girls 4×200 relay team of Boden, Tomko, Tonini and Emma Stewart took second place as did the 4×800 meter relay team of Tomko, Mariah Geibel and Emma and Erin LeMay.
–Jena Reinheimer was third in the shot put.
Mars high school’s Robby Carmody scored his 2,000th career point over the weekend in a Mars 67-48 win over Sewickley Academy in the Legends Classic.
The Mars middle school teams swept Pine-Richland. The 7th grade won 40-34. The 8th grade team won 48-34 over the previously undefeated Rams. Zach Schlegel led the Planets with 14.
