The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Evgeni Malkin scored a hat trick. Sidney Crosby had a point in his 10th consecutive game. He has 20 point over that span. Matt Murray returned to the net for the Pens and earned the victory by stopping 40 of 42 shots. It was the first game back after the passing of his father earlier this month.
The win boosted the Penguins into sole possession of second place in the Metropolitan Division. They are four points behind first-place Washington, but only four points from being out of a playoff position. The Pens host the Capitals Friday night.
