Lois Carol Gemmer Gosnell of Butler, passed at home on the morning of February 10, 2018 at the age of 86 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Lois was born in Buffalo, NY to Eugene W. Gemmer, Sr. and Lillian Mester Gemmer.
Lois attended the University of Florida and worked as an library assistant at St. Mark’s School, Southboro, MA and Lake Region High School, Orleans, VT. She was involved with the Girl Scouts, church choirs, bell choir and the Ladies Aid Society of the Westmore Church, Westmore, VT which she was very proud.
Lois was a very talented woman who enjoyed spinning, weaving, knitting, tatting, needlepoint, stained glass, singing and cooking. She and Jim enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally after retirement. They even renewed their wedding vows on their 50th anniversary on the Yangtze River in China.
She is survived by her husband James H. Gosnell, Sr. whom she married on June 14, 1952 and enjoyed a long loving marriage of 65 years. Lois is lovingly remembered by her husband, children Patricia (Harry) Reigh, Butler, and James H. Gosnell, Jr of Sutton, MA; grandchildren Christopher (Samantha) Reigh, Butler, Douglas Reigh, East Butler, Jesse Reigh, Butler, Kristin (Matt) Ribeiro, Tiverton, RI, Heather Gosnell, Sutton, MA and Rachael Gosnell, Sutton, MA; three great granddaughters, Abigail, Ashley and Heidi Reigh and her brother Eugene W. Gemmer, Jr. Washburn, MO.
Lois was a member of the St. John’s Reform Church of Butler.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be at a later date at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15205, St. John’s Reform Church, 493 Evans City Rd, Butler, PA 16001, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
