Pirates tie Tigers/host Boston today in Grapefruit League play

The Pittsburgh Pirates tied Detroit 8-8 after nine innings of exhibition baseball Sunday. Outfielder Austin Meadows had a triple and drove in three runs. Meadows is 4-for-5 with three extra base hits to start the preseason. The Bucs host Boston at 1:05pm today.
