James Lawther Dietz, age 78, of West Sunbury, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his residence.
Born November 3, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Esther Lawther Dietz.
He was Catholic by faith, and enjoyed attending different services.
James was an upholster tradesman in the automobile and aviation field. He began his career at North Hills Seat Covers, then started his own business as A&J Upholstery, and retired from Corporate Jet of the Greater Pittsburgh Region. After retirement he continued and enjoyed his self employment as an upholster in this local area.
He was an active member of the Seniors Flyer’s Club of Cranberry Twp. He enjoyed building model airplanes, hunting, and fishing. He will be remembered for always wanting to build it, fix it, or change it.
Survived by his loving children James (Marge) Dietz of Evans City, Ann (Thomas) Ross of Manteo, NC, Robert (Maria) Dietz of Great Mills, MD, William Dietz of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, his friend and former spouse Ann Dietz of Pittsburgh, his siblings Walter “Butch” (Nancy) Dietz, Frank (Debbie) Dietz, Eleanor (Wayne) Arlet all of Pittsburgh, Alice (David) Pietro of Atlanta, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Esther “Sissy” Carleo.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, 3pm to 5pm at the Edward L Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect, PA. Military honors followed by a blessing service will begin at 5:30pm in the Funeral Home, with Rev. Father Robert Seeman, officiating.
