High school musical season around the Butler County area continues this weekend with performances from several more local schools.
Butler Musical Director Dale VanLaningham talked with Butler Radio about the large cast for the district’s production of The Little Mermaid.
“With those production numbers, we need undersea creatures. The chef number has a big group in it. There’s a chase scene involved. The chef is chasing Sebastian around and he thinks that Sebastian should go in the stew and he’s trying, of course, not to. So there’s a lot of opportunities to put people in which is one of the reasons we picked the show. There’s a lot of flexibility,” he said.
Performances are planned for 7:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday at the Butler High School Auditorium. Tickets to see the show are $10 presale at Mays Music Shoppe and $12 at the door.
The Mars School District is staging their musical “Willy Wonka” this weekend at the High School Auditorium with performances Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., as well as a matinee at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $10 per person and available to purchase at the door before each show.
Students at A-C Valley will perform “The Addams Family Musical” this Thursday, Friday and Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. in the A-C Valley High School Auditorium. The Freeport Area School District will also stage “The Addams Family” with 7:30 p.m. shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as well as a 2 p.m. matinee show Sunday in the Middle School Auditorium.
