William Edward “Bill” Young, Jr., 70, passed away Sunday evening surrounded by his loving daughter and son in law after an extended illness.
Bill was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania on February 18, 1948. He was the son of the late William Edward Young, Sr. and Irene Young Vaccarello.
He was a 1966 graduate of the Milton Hershey Academy in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He also served as an M.P. in the Army during Vietnam.
During his career, he was employed and retired from the Butler Post Office and later worked at Irene Stacy in Butler.
Bill enjoyed singing, dancing, fishing, golfing and sports. The last part of his life was spent in Georgia with his daughter and son in law.
Bill is survived by his three children, Lori Ann Spellman and her husband Scott Spellman of Tyrone, Georgia, William Edward Young III of Pittsburgh, and Craig Young and his wife Carli Young of Butler; one grandchild, William Edward Young IV; his sisters, Eileen Kerr of Pittsburgh, and Yvonne Mazurek of Butler; brother Norman Young and his wife Jackie Young; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Dulya.
Friends and Family of William “Bill” Young who died Sunday March 11, 2018, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Thompson Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North St., Butler, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street Butler, PA.
Immediately following, Officers and Members of American Legion Post #117 of Butler, American Legion Post #778 of Lyndora, and VFW Post # 249 of Butler will conduct Military Honors at Slipper Rock Cemetery.
