James Jay Cannard, age 70 of Chicora died this morning in Sugar Creek Rest, Worthington, PA. following an illness. Born on November 23, 1947 in Danville, PA to the late James and June Cannard.
After graduating from Karns City High School in 1967, he proudly defended his country in Vietnam serving in the U.S. Navy from December 15, 1967 to July 30 1971 on the U.S.S. Shangri La.
Jay was a self-employed handyman. He was a life member of Butler Little Theatre, and also worked with the Musical Theatre Guild and Karns City High School Drama Club. He enjoyed reading, music, and working with electronics. He particularly loved walking and taking care of his beloved dogs.
He is survived by a sister, Amy Cannard, and 2 brothers, Jon Cannard, and Chris Cannard.
There will be no viewing, visitation, or services at this time. A memorial service will take
place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made in Jay’s memory to any local theatre of the donor’s choice.
