Twelve municipalities throughout Butler County will receive money to help with projects in their local parks.
The funding is awarded annually through the Butler County Park Renovation Program, which is now in its 24th year.
This year, about $117,000 has been awarded to complete projects including upgrading playground equipment, new sidewalks and benches, improving ADA accessibility and adding restrooms.
Details of the 12 projects:
Adams Township- New playground equipment
Bruin Borough- New sidewalks, benches and grills in Bruin Park
Buffalo Township- New galvanized gates including posts, hinges, chains and weatherproof locks throughout the Butler-Freeport Trail to address safety concerns
Butler Township- Removal and replacement of asphalt shingles with the expectation to replace roof decking at Preston Park
Clinton Township- Pavilion work
Cranberry Township- New playground equipment
Eau Claire Borough- New furnace and new roofing on two shelters
Fairview Township- Reno of double tennis court
Petrolia Borough- French drains along the playground area, new playground safety surfacing and a new bench in Petrolia Borough Park
Saxonburg Borough- New concrete pad at pavilion, new touch-free faucets and two toilets in park restrooms
Slippery Rock Borough- New restroom
Zelienople Borough- Four new special needs playground features including a wheelchair pathway at Zelienople Community Park
