Martha Ann Allen, age 86, of Butler, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born in Butler on May 19, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Claude L. and Ella Rodgers Rivers, Sr.
She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church.
Ann was a member of the Legion of Mary. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America Drum and Bugle Corps.
She is survived by four children, Barbara Somero and her husband, John, of Hayes, VA, Debra Stewart and her husband, John, of Hatboro, PA, Julie Cupps and her husband, Rick, of Butler, and Richard Allen, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Butler; and one sister, Louise Emmett of Butler.
Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Michelle Steighner and her husband, Ron, Lisa Strouse and her wife, Melanie, Michael Allen and his wife, Karly, Ryan Somero and his wife, Audrey, Allison Connors and her husband, Andrew, Megan Allen, Mandy Cupps, Missy Cupps and her fiancé, Victor Ray, Lexie Cupps, Devin Cupps, and Tori Cupps; eight great-grandchildren, John Paul Tomlin, Sara Schweiger, Zach Boyle, Anna Strouse, Madelyn Myhre, Jefferson Connors, Noah Allen, and Harrison Connors; and her loving and caring caregivers, Joni Metz, Carol Shope, and Ann’s granddaughter, Mandy Cupps. In addition, Ann is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. “Dick” Allen, Sr., who passed away September 24, 2007; nine brothers; and three sisters.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Avenue, Butler, on Wednesday from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. from Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main Street Ext., Butler, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Argentieri, pastor, officiating.
Burial will take place in Saint John’s Cemetery, Coylesville.
