A ceremony to mark the official start of a recreation project in Cranberry Township is planned for later this week.
Ground will be broken at 3 p.m. on Tuesday for a Championship-level, 18-hole disc golf course in Cranberry’s North Boundary Park. This project also includes a separate six-hole, “learn-to-play” circuit and a nature trail.
Construction will take place on 36 acres of a partially-wooded hillside along the western edge of the park. Once completed, officials say the course will be one of the world’s longest and most challenging.
This project is a joint effort between Cranberry Township and the Cranberry Township Community Chest, which has designated the course as the 2018 Project of the Year.
