Samuel W. “Sam” McCracken Jr., 70, of McCracken Lane, Karns City, passed away late Tuesday evening, April 24, 2018 in Ellwood City while surrounded by his loving family.
Samuel was born in Butler on November 11, 1947. He was the son of the late Samuel W. Sr. and Betty Mahood McCracken.
He was a graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School. He enjoyed spending time at his farm in Karns City, riding his tractor and spending time with family and friends.
Sam was a proud U.S. Army veteran and had served in Vietnam. He had been a member of the former American Legion Post in Fairview.
He retired from Penreco following many years of service.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Linda A. Schreffler McCracken.
He is survived by three daughters, Calli J. McCluskey of Vandergrift, Melissa A. Ierace and her husband, Michael, of Ellwood City and Amanda M. Bengele of Ellwood City; four grandchildren, Colin and Katie McCluskey, Jacob Ierace, and Daniel Herr; two sisters, Sherry Brothers and her husband, Robert, of Karns City and Pam Bryan of Rimersburg; his dear friend and companion, Dolly Pistorius of Chicora and her children, Claire, Barb, and Randy, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday. A closing prayer will follow from the funeral home at 8:00 p.m. Military honors accorded by the Chicora, Brady’s Bend, and East Brady American Legion Posts will be at 3:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
