Health officials are expecting another record year for Lyme Disease.
State and federal authorities have ranked Pennsylvania number one in the nation in the number of Lyme cases. Records show there were more than 11-thousand-400 cases in 2016, which accounts for more than a third of all cases reported nationwide.
State Senator Stewart Greenleaf (from eastern PA) sponsored a resolution which recognizes May as Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Month in Pennsylvania, calling for a greater awareness and increased funding for detection and treatment.
Lyme Disease is the bacterial infection transmitted primarily by ticks.
