Seneca Valley’s Zach Gehm won the discus at the PIAA Track & Field Championships over the weekend at Shippensburg University. Gehm had a throw of 194’8″ – which was more than 20 feet further than the runner-up. Gehm finished fifth in the javelin.
Butler’s Noah Beveridge was runner-up in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:08, four seconds behind the winner.
Freeport’s Sidney Shemanski was the runner-up at the line during the 2A 800-meter race.
Moniteau’s Kendall Grossman was the runner-up in the 2A pole vault.
Butler’s Jake Wolfrum was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. Jack Codispot was fifth in the pole vault. The Butler boys 3200-meter relay team finished sixth. Butler finished seventh overall in the team results. Seneca Valley tied for fifth.
The Butler girls had high hopes, especially in the 4×800 meter relay, and appeared headed for gold when their anchor runner collapsed near the finish while leading. They settle for eighth. The 4×400 meter relay team finished sixth.
Jena Reinheimer was fifth in the discus.
