Catherine Rose “Kitty” Cipollone, age 93, of Butler, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born in Argentine, PA, on June 17, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Natale and Frances “Rose” Cacia Bonefeste.
Kitty was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She volunteered for many years in the Saint Michael School cafeteria. She was also a member of 55 & Alive and the Ladies Guild of Saint Michael’s.
She was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1942. Following graduation she enjoyed a brief career as a secretary. After marriage she turned her attention to being a dedicated homemaker.
Kitty had numerous hobbies, including cooking, baking, playing cards, reading, watching Pirate baseball, and documenting both family and historical events. However, she was happiest when she was cooking and baking for her family. She loved hosting family events, especially Sunday meals. Her home was a place of comfort and hospitality for anyone who entered. She was an extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was the source of tireless support for all of her grandchildren attending every important event in their lives. Kitty charmed everyone she met with her warm smile, sweet nature, and sense of humor.
She is survived by four daughters: Mary Christy and her husband, Robert; Patricia Chiappini and her husband, Ernest; Rosemary Keasey and her husband, Ashley; and Linda Fox and her husband, Randy, all of Butler.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Carla Gallo and her husband, Robert; Robert Christy; Anthony Chiappini and his wife, Tarah; Nicholas Chiappini; Emily Ruscetti and her husband, J.M.; Elizabeth Feder and her husband, Matthew; Maura O’Brien and her husband, Joseph; and Madeline Fox; four great-grandchildren: Robby Gallo, Grace Gallo, Blake Chiappini and Luca Ruscetti; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Cipollone, who passed away November 24, 2004; two brothers, Joseph and Dominic Bonefeste; and one sister, Mary Morando.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Avenue, Butler, on Thursday from
2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. from Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Avenue, Butler. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.
Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
The Bereavement Group of Saint Michael the Archangel Church will meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 3 p.m. to conduct a Scriptural Wake Service.
