A Slippery Rock University official will be participating in a ceremony on Wednesday, as well as an address to a state organization.
Chair of SRU’s Council of Trustees, Jeff Smith, will join other dignitaries at the inauguration of Daniel Greenstein as the chancellor of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The following day, Jan. 17, Smith will make a presentation to the State System’s board of governors regarding PACT’s work.
PACT is a membership organization comprised of PASSHE trustees that exists to educate trustees on national trends in higher education; to apprise trustees of issues facing the State System and establish a network of trustees to convey trustees’ views to the chancellor and board of governors; to provide professional development opportunities to trustees in order to enhance their service to the State System; and to inform and update trustees about academic programs and administrative policies of the 14 State System universities.
Greenstein took office as the State System’s fifth chancellor Sept. 4, 2018. He is the chief executive officer of the System and is responsible for its management.
Greenstein previously led the Postsecondary Success strategy at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, where he worked with other higher education leaders across the country on initiatives designed to raise educational-attainment levels and to promote economic mobility, especially among low-income and minority students.
