Wrestling:
–The Seneca Valley Wrestlers defeated Mifflin County 35-24 in the First Round of the state 3A Team Playoffs Thursday in Hershey.
Girls Basketball:
–Seneca Valley defeated Butler 41-30. Jordan Kauffman of Butler led all scorers with 15.
–Shaler downed Pine-Richland 39-36.
–Mars over Hampton 52-31.
–North Catholic defeated Knoch 69-33. Dani Short led the Trojanettes with 16.
–Freeport defeated Indiana 46-42. Sidney Shemanski led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points.
Boys Basketball:
–Butler will face Obama Academy tonight. Pre-game with Tyler Friel is 7:20pm on WBUT.
–Knoch will face Beaver Saturday at 3:30pm. Scott Briggs will have the game at 3:15pm on WISR.
–The Mars 9th grade Boys held off Hampton 65-62. The Planets close out their season when they host North Catholic this afternoon. Tip-off is 3:30pm.
Swimming:
The Knoch Boys and Girls Swimmers swept a dual meet with Freeport and Deer Lakes. Freeport defeated Deer Lakes in the meet.
In addition to Butler’s Sam Enslen heading to Slippery Rock University to continue his football career, as part of the National Signing Day announcements this week: two players from Seneca Valley announced their future intentions – offensive lineman Marcus Might will to to IUP and linebacker Saige Ley will attend Edinboro. Karns City offensive lineman Bradon Bastion will attend Clarion.
