A number of vehicle accidents happened late Sunday afternoon when a band of snow and sleet blew its way through Butler County.
Dispatchers at the Butler County 911 Center received calls for dozens of crashes between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The accidents were spread across the county.
It’s unclear if anyone was seriously injured.
About 4:45 p.m. Sunday, a one-vehicle crash occurred on Route 308 (West Sunbury Road)- near Moore Road- in Center Township. According to State Police, 35-year-old Elizabeth Stewart of Chicora was traveling north when she lost control while traveling downhill and began to slide on the snow-covered roadway. Stewart’s Jeep Grand Cherokee began to roll, and ended up off the east side of the road.
Police say Stewart was not injured, but her Jeep was disabled.
Another crash was reported about 6:30 p.m. on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township, near Route 528. According to State Police, 60-year-old Rex Wasser of Lower Burrell was traveling west when his Ford Focus began to slide. Wasser’s car ended up striking the guide rail with its front end.
Wasser was not injured but police say his car sustained front end damage.
Butler County was under a Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service until Sunday night.
