The VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit is set to be re-positioned in the upcoming months.
The Executive Director of VNA in Western PA Margie Walsh said the move is a result of growing needs in the current health-care environment. VNA Inpatient Hospice is a division of Lutheran Senior Life—who is overseeing the re-positioning.
“The building is only partially occupied by our inpatient hospice,” Walsh said. “So they are going to actually repurpose the building.”
The building will transition into a Specialty Skilled Nursing Facility.
During the re-positioning, VNA Hospice will not be able to accept new patients into the inpatient unit; they will continue to provide care through contract arrangements, Walsh said.
“Not all hospices have their own hospice unit,” Walsh said. “We just so happen to have our own unit. We can provide care in other facilities so current patients will be cared for.”
The VNA Hospice Unit is on Technology Drive in Butler Township. The re-positioning is expected to begin in April.
