Norval W. Dunn, age 86, he has a resident of Butler for the last 45 years, but is formerly of Chicora, PA. died Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler following a lengthy illness. Born December 6th 1932 in Chicora, the son of Albert H. Dunn and Clare (McNamee) Dunn.
He is a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a math teacher at Mar’s Middle School for 30 years from 1961 to retirement in 1991. He taught 7th and 8th grades. In his younger years he enjoyed playing golf, softball, and bowling. Throughout his life he was a caregiver for many people. He was a member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Butler where he was active with Meals on Wheels.
Norval is survived by his brother, Tom and Judy Dunn of Karns City, his sister-in-law, Alberta Dunn of Chicora, his special niece who was his caregiver, Kelly Dunn of Chicora; a special friend, Carol DeVenzio of Butler who taught at the same school.
He is preceded in death by 2 sisters: Mary Ragar, Madeline Geibel; 3 brothers: Father Didacus (Bud) Dunn OFM Cap, Paul Dunn and John Dunn.
Friends will be received at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, in the Heart of Chicora, Corner of 111 Main and East Slippery Rock Streets, Chicora, PA.
5-8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2019
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Butler, PA officiated by Reverend John Baver
Interment will be in Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
Military Honors will be provided by the Chicora, Brady’s Bend, and East Brady’s American Legion Saturday at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norval’s honor to Meals on Wheels at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean Street, Butler, PA 16001; or to Saint Paul’s Church, 128 N. McKean Street, Butler, PA.
