AAA is projecting a slight increase in travel compared to last year for Memorial Day.
An estimated 45 million Americans will make a trip more than 50 miles away from home this weekend.
Even though gas prices are significantly higher than last year, that hasn’t deterred Americans’ travel plans. Most in the Mid-Atlantic region are expected to drive by car, at an estimated 4.7 million.
The worst times to travel are Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Air travel is down slightly compared to 2025.
