Governor Josh Shapiro has signed a bill into law that would require lifesaving medical equipment at every interscholastic sporting event.
After the near death of former University of Pittsburgh Safety Damar Hamlin during an NFL game, lawmakers became increasingly concerned about the necessary resources being available for lower level athletics.
Thus, led to the passing of Senate Bill 375, that requires all schools, private or public, to have plan if an incident occurred along with CPR training requirements.
The school are also required to have Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available at all times.
The bill passed in the senate and house with bipartisan support will go into effect by the beginning of next school year.
