State agriculture officials are encouraging farm workers to get their COVID-19 vaccine.
Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding says it’s important for farmers to trust the science.
“All of us in agriculture have learned to accept science, work with science, see the benefits of science,” Redding said. “The vaccination is a science.”
Redding said farmers have played an extremely important role in helping Pennsylvania throughout the pandemic, and that they should take advantage of the vaccine opportunity in front of them.
“They were designated as life sustaining and critical, that was more than just a simple label. That was real. It came with responsibilities and obligations,” Redding said. “Agriculture took care of us during the pandemic. Now it’s about making sure we honor that but also recognize the contributions to get people vaccinated that includes our farm community.”
Farm workers are currently eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
