Alan Lee Armstrong, 83, of Butler, formerly of Saugerties, NY, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Born April 4, 1942, in Saugerties, NY, he was the son of the late Milton and Alice (Lee) Armstrong.
Alan was a 1960 graduate of Saugerties High School, and went on to earn his associates degree from Ulster County Community College. After college, he enlisted in the United States Air force and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, Alan began his sales career with Nabisco and then with Combined Insurance. Alan enjoyed the outdoors hunting pheasant and playing sports, especially golf, softball, tennis, and racquetball. He was a member of both the Highland and Natili’s Golf Leagues for many years. Alan was also an animal lover, and spent a lot of time with the Greyhound Rescue.
He is survived by his son, John (Elizabeth) Armstrong; his daughter, Alana (Charles) Kildoo, his four grandchildren; Luke, Faith, Ruth, and Preston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Armstrong, whom he married on April 29, 1967, and who passed away on May 8, 2023, and his brother, James Armstrong
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation.
Alan’s family will celebrate his life privately back in New York at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alan’s name can be made to VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Rd., Butler, PA 16001 or to a Local Greyhound Rescue Program of the donor’s choice.
