Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II released a statement Wednesday that the team wants quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to return for the 2021 season. His contract has been a large topic of concern due to the fact Roethlisberger is in line to make more than $40 million this season. The team is expected to work out a new deal to lessen the 2021 salary cap hit.
A Washington Post report Wednesday stated the NFL and team owners would like to begin an expanded 17-game season starting this fall. The move would reduce the pre-season to three games instead of four. The most recent collective bargaining agreement ratified last March gave the NFL the right to implement the expanded regular season, with players receiving financial concessions in return.
