Barbara Hoffer, 79, of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 30, 2026 at her residence surrounded by family.
She was born on October 25, 1946, in Braddock, PA to the late Martin J. Gezzer and Doris H. (Williams) Gezzer.
Barbara graduated from Wilkinsburg High school before attending the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught home economics at West Mifflin High school and Butler School district before retiring in June of 2006. She was a charter member of Westminster PCA, and loved being involved whether it was coordinating meals or volunteering in the nursery, the church was like her second family. Barbara loved cross stitching. She also loved spending time with her loving family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She also enjoyed baking cookies and sharing her secret ingredient with them.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, James “Jim” Hoffer, whom she married on August 8, 1970. She is also survived by her three sons, Dr. Michael (Connie) Hoffer, of Chicora, PA, Steven (Colene) Hoffer, of Beaver Falls, PA, and Mark (Danielle) Hoffer, of Evans City, PA; eight grandchildren, Leah (Eli) Grove, Samuel (Nisa) Hoffer, Abigail Hoffer, Jason Hoffer, Emily Hoffer, Wesley Hoffer, Addyson Hoffer, and Levi Hoffer.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA 16001.
A service will take place on Saturday October 10, 2026 at 11 am at Westminster PCA, 420 N. Main Street, Butler, PA 16001, with Pastor Dwight Dunn officiating.
Burial will take place in North Butler Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Westminster PCA memorial fund, 420 N. Main Street, Butler, PA 16001.
