Butler Area School District administrators have chosen a familiar face to be the district’s next Director of Security.
Broad Street School Police officer James Green Jr will receive a salary of $75,000 to take over the district-wide position but he will continue to be based out of the downtown Butler facility where he has formed a special bond with students and staff.
Green was the focus of an assembly at Broad Street last November to present The RISE (Recognizing Inspiring School Employees) Award celebrating the dedication and excellence of non-teaching school employees who provide exceptional service to students.
Former Director of Security John Stepansky recently informed the district that he wanted to return to his full-time school police position at the Intermediate School. At that time the district posted the opening internally and Green expressed interest in taking over.
