A local school district is seeking state funding for roof repairs through a grant opportunity.
The Butler Area School board recently approved a Public School Facility Improvement grant resolutions with the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Commonwealth Financing Authority.
They are asking for over $2.5 million to replace the roof at Center Township Elementary which requires a local match of just over $600,000.
Earlier this year Butler administrators also applied for this grant to assist with replacing roofs at Center Avenue School as well as Northwest and Connoquenessing Elementary Schools. All of these requests require a 25% local match.
Butler could move forward with one or more of the roof repairs even without receiving grant funding depending on roof condition.
