A couple of local institutions of higher learning have been selected to receive state funding.
Butler County Community College is one of 14 schools across the Commonwealth to receive a total of about $25 million through the Department of Education. BC3 will receive $375,000 for document management system equipment along with $125,000 for campus camera security equipment.
Slippery Rock University has been awarded a two-year grant of about $50,000 by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to be used for underage drinking enforcement patrols, peer education programs, liquor law training, and a National College Health Assessment (NCHA).
A total of $3.6 million will be dispersed through this program to 90 organizations in 46 counties.
