Butler County Community College is celebrating the success of their annual golf outing, which once again raised six figures.
The 30th annual BC3 Education Foundation golf outing was held earlier this month at Olde Stonewall Golf Club and raised $110,000.
Twenty-eight of 31 teams enlisted BC3 student-athlete Jacob Marquardt to hit their drive on a par 3 hole for a $20 donation. Marquardt was named an All-American after finishing in the top 18 at the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship tournament in June.
Since the golfing outing’s inaugural year in 1996—the annual fundraiser has raised nearly $1.6 million. The proceeds are used to fund adult literacy, addiction recovery, financial programs, food security and other BC3 initiatives.
The team from First National Bank managed to win a tiebreaker against Alliance for Nonprofit Resources, with a 15 under 55 in the scramble format followed by a lower total on the scorecard playoff.
